The turd has landed...

By dwdino ·
The iPad is here! [crickets chirping]

This ranks near Y2K as the biggest non-event in a couple of decades.

"Change the computing landscape" as one poster put it. It barely keeps up with yesterdays relics. Basically an oversized iPhone.

But, one thing is clear. The iPad is Apples SOP for releasing multiple versions to maintain revenue streams. All of the missing capabilities and hardware screams that versions 2 and 3 are in the works, like the iPhone before it.

Anyway, the turd has landed and is being swept aside.

I thought the IPad was what you used for your IPhone's monthly "visitor"

Dammit, I wanted to make that joke.

by CharlieSpencer In reply to Hmmm

and the 'visitor' is courtesy from AT&T. Their bill is guaranteed to give you cramps.

LMAO right now

I've been maintaining iPADs for several years. If you've been in a store with self-checkout lanes and seen the little hand-held the cashier is running around with, you've seen an iPAD. http://www.fujitsu.com/us/news/pr/ftxs_20060**3.html

I expect Fujitsu to file the trademark infringement complaint any time in the next couple of weeks.

In seriousness, I thought it sounded awfully familiar....

...now I know why.

WHOOPS! A quick Google search would have turned this up...heads gotta roll!!

Fujitsu had the name first, but a trademark was never given

by Forum Surfer In reply to LMAO right now

Fujitsu filed again last year, but Apple has filed objections since.

I find it funny that Apple released the product before the dispute is resolved. Those Apple folk seem to be going crazy over naming conventions. It appears Apple will not be happy until the own trademark rights on iAnything. Fujitsu may be too large for Apple to bully around over a silly little name.

Well, if it comes down to it

by NickNielsen In reply to Fujitsu had the name firs ...

Apple may have screwed themselves, since Fujitsu can show first use.

Truthfully, though

by seanferd In reply to Well, if it comes down to ...

Usage of the name by Apple is unlikely to cause confusion.

Going by the history of actual trademark decisions, no, Apple should not get to use it.

But it could be a repeat of the history of the company's own name.

Second thought

by NickNielsen In reply to Truthfully, though

Apple may not necessarily want the rights to i"Anything". After all, iLisa and iNewton are part of that "anything".

I'd entirely forgotten the Newton.
