the web browsing experience is deteriorating

By brianwall99 ·
I have a very fast computer, and a 130Mps download and 40Mps upload connection and I use the most up-to-date versions of my software. Yet my web browsing experience has never been as bad.

TechRepulic's own sites are typical of one issue I'm afraid. Using the beta of Firefox's new browser for example, some pages just won't load - stuck saying "waiting for c,". I'm therefore using Edge for this post as the pages loaded fine.

Also on that site, the slide show took ages between each image when clicking on next.

On the web generally, sites often load very slowly because of all the advertising they are pulling-in from across the net. When finally I get to see the entire rendered page, navigation is a bind because it is the fashion for many sites to split the editorial content into small chunks hidden amongst adverts and promotions.

I fully appreciate that websites need funding. But surely the situation is getting to the point where monetising your site becomes self defeating?

I now limit my browsing considerably because of the cluttered and horribly designed sites that ruin the browsing experience. What is going to happen "going forward" as the saying goes?

I personally don't see much change...

... happening in the future, especially since company rely on the ads for revenue to bring members free content. Unless someone comes up with a modal that displays less ads while maintaining the same revenue.

Do you have an idea on how companies can do this?
