    Thinking about a new router

Need a bit of advice about my home router.
I have a Netgear WGR614v10, it’s about 7-8 years old. Works fine but I ran a speed test on it recently and think it’s time for an update.
I pay my ISP for 100mbps download and 20mbps upload. I find if I connect my laptop via an Ethernet cable to my router I get 90.24mbps down and 18.49mbps up, but on wi-fi and positioned right next to the router I only get 24.64mbps down and 17.90mbps up. It’s even worse in another room; 6mbps up/down.
So I’m thinking of a better router, just want some advice:
    1) is it the right decision to get a new router? (I think it is given that I’m not getting the speed I pay for)
    2) what router to get? There are so many and I want one that can match the speed I get from my ISP, I was thinking of this one:
    https://www.bestbuy.com/site/netgear-ac1750-dual-band-wi-fi-5-router-black/9054017.p?skuId=9054017
any advice would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

Move up that model line. I checked Amazon for the r6700 and r7000.

Here I went with a refurb Netgear Nighthawk AX12. It’s very nice.
