Hmmm.

I may be glad to see spammers getting nailed, but I think that COICA is another foot in the door of government control of the Internet. And idea that repulses me.

Thanks for the heads up.

And the government has too many feet in too many doors already!

I think . . . . .

by maxwell edison In reply to Hmmm.

..... it's a law enforcement issue, to be sure, but not one that involves the ever-growing, ever-reaching, and ever-groping Department of Homeland Security.

If one steps back and identifies the real underlying issue, which is counterfeit goods entering and being sold in the United States, how was it handled in the days before the Internet? It was, after all, an issue that preceded the Internet.

It was an FBI matter - you know, Efrem Zimbalist, Jr and all those guys! And having offices around the world, the FBI's legitimate law enforcement efforts could be pursued just about anywhere. Although I'd admit that foreign governments wouldn't (and don't) always cooperate.

I especially disdain

the middle badge... "protection is our trademark" WTF???
Sounds like the beginning of the Corporate States of America, which is the only way to make sense of counterfeit goods being a "homeland security" issue.
In God you may trust, but remember who helps those that help themselves

But then, it may just be that over here we expect a lot less Shazam!! from government agencies.

A ridiculous waste of resources

by AV . In reply to This domain named has bee ...

ICE should concentrate on doing something about the millions of illegal immigrants in this country. What does shutting down internet domains have to do with immigration and customs enforcement? They're wasting their time and our tax dollars.

I never heard of COICA, but it looks like government overreach to me and I don't like it.
