Our Fax Lines Are Down

by LiveNDieN LA In reply to This Net Admin's Many Hat ...

Last Thursday our analog ( Fax ) lines went down... when I called the numbers a recording mentioned that the line is bieng looked out for porblems.Last week.. a Telepacific tech had decided that he could disconnect these "unused" lines. I mentioned this info to the rep on the phone...she thought I was an Idiot and had me reboot the Phone Switch...This did not help of course... she looked at my previous trouble ticket, read the results and stayed very quiet..

I asked Telepacific to forward the numbers for my downed lines to my other fax number that feeds to my e-mail.

Glacier Mobile PC

by LiveNDieN LA In reply to This Net Admin's Many Hat ...

September 13, 2005 Glacier Mobile PC We have 7 mobile PCs mounted to cherry picker forklifts in our warehouse, one of them was sent out for service the other day... without my knowledge. Apparently the maintenance company power washes the lifts when they are done servicing them, the computer was left on the unit when it was washed. When the unit was brought back to us it would power up.. but there was no wifi communication. I reinstalled the cisco software for the radio and we were in business once more. I also added a $20.00 DLINK DWL-G120 USB external NIC. It runs at 54G instead of the 11b that the built in Cisco NIC runs at. I have both NICs running becuase our warehouse inventory levels have increased and with that the communication has gotten more difficult. I added three DLINK DWL220a access points to make traveling the warehouse easier on the mobile units.
