Ticked OFF with Fast Track Clearance of DEFECTIVE Software

By scadapro ·
Has anyone else fell for and purchased the "close out" items form the Bookstore? If you buy Fast Track training CDs they are NOT compatable with IE7. I have requested a refund since I was misled at the time of purchase or full working copies of IE7 compatable courses ASAP.

This is really poor from an organization that is otherwise doing an excellent job.

Our apologies ...

by jasonhiner Moderator In reply to Ticked OFF with Fast Trac ...

IE7 has been a bit unpredictable (even between various betas and release candidates and now the final code). In many cases the problems can be solved by simply clicking the Info Bar at the top of the main window and allowing the content to do what it needs to do. Alternatively, you can sometimes use Firefox to open the CD content and that will solve the problem.

The Fast Tracks are not something that we create so it's not TechRepublic stuff, but it's good material that we re-sell to provide a useful service to our users. Sounds like you've already done a refund, but if not then I hope we can help you work through the problems.

Regards, Jason

Some suggestions

by JamesRL In reply to Ticked OFF with Fast Trac ...

My company had similar issues with IE7 and some content. I don't know what your symptom is, but here are some solutions:

1. Enable Active Content. In IE7, go to
Tools | Internet Options | Advanced tab. Scroll down to the Security
category and select ?Allow active content to run in files on My Computer?.
You will need to restart IE7 (not your computer). Note that good security practise is to turn this off when not required.

2. If error message is "Page pXX does not exist and could not be loaded."
In IE7, go to
Tools | Internet Options | Advanced tab. Scroll down to the Security
category and deselect
?Enable native XMLHTTP support?.

:-) Thanks James for breaking down how to tweak IE7 to make this work.

Also was duped

by dadze In reply to Ticked OFF with Fast Trac ...

Every time I try to use the Fast Track close out CD, I get the message "Windows Explorer must shut down". Re-setting the security settings did nothing for me. No wonder the CDs were close out items. They don't work!

Click the "Send message" link in my signature. We'll help you get the CD to work or we'll work on getting a replacement.

Are you using IE7?

by scadapro In reply to Also was duped

If you are using Internet Explorer 7, the CDs are not compatable with it. After trying some work arounds without success, I was able to return the CDs for full credit (which I am still waiting to receive).

Yes, IE7

I am using IE7. Also tried suggestions of changing security settings. Still doesn't work.
