Time keeps changing

By lnauman ·
I recently re-installed XP Pro on my CPQ Deskpro AP-240. I have checked the bios setup for the coorect time. The hour and am/pm keeps changing on me while the minutes stay the same. I do not have the Internet Time feature installed. It doesn't seem like a battery problem. Can Spyware or a virus be causing this problem I have current patches and updates installed for both the OS and Norton anti-virus.

I havent heard of a virus that would do this, but it wouldnt hurt to scan. I would take the first suggestion, if it doesnt help, try flashing the bios.

The XP machine was logged into a Win 2003 server, and the time was incorrect on the server. Apparently the XP machine's time synched with the servers? After logging in as administrator to the local XP machine the time was reset, and remain correct after logging on to the server.

By default XP will synchronize its time with internet time zone while connecting to net.
U must have selected a wrong Time Zone .
at Date & Time option in control panel select your correct time zone or u can diable synchronization by unchecking " Automatically synchronise with an Internet time server" under the Intetnet Time tabe.
