Time out Problem?

By noog ·
I am trying to copy a medium sized (100meg or so ) directory from an NT 2000 serve rto an NT 2000 wkstn. It starts to copy but hen pops up and says " cannot copy file xyz the specified network name is no longer available. It is a 10Mb network. Any reason why it is doing this?

Most probably it is related to the connection.
Is this appear when you copying this folder to any Workstation or to specified one? Try to copy the same file to another Workstation, if the problem still appear then
try to check you Server cables, Hub, etc...

Good Luck

It is not recommended to copy 100 mbps of data on a 10 mb network but still u can copy, so check your network there may be some broadcasts or collisions, use sniffer, capture the data and analyse it what is wrong on the network.
