Check the BIOS

by mjd420nova In reply to time/space/lag

A small battery on the system board holds the CMOS chip active and keeps the BIOS settings when the unit is shut down. This battery can cause all kinds of strange problems when it gets weak or dies. It's single function is to keep your BIOS settings and the clock running when there is no power to the unit. It is usually a small "coin" type cell mounted on the motherboard. Check it out and replace it.
