Looking for the best solution for ensuring all our servers keep accurate time.
We have a central HQ with an authoritative time server (all Win2003 systems) and several domain controllers at remote sites, connected by dial-up VPN.
Because of frequent network disconnections, we get a lot of W32TM errors at the sites because the time sync was missed.
– Should we make each DC connect primarily to the HQ server or to an internet time server?
– When systems have been disconnected and lost all track of time (CMOS batteries failed), will they update correctly?
Any other tips for setting up time sync in a widely distributed slow link network gratefully accepted.
Thank you.
