timeout scenerio

By dashaba ·
i have a problem i hope could be sorted out here.I have an IBM netfinity server which i use to run my telephony billing software. My problem is this;when i ping remote clients, i get intermittent timeouts, infact all clients that are suppose to be offered voice solutions by us, but on pinging these same remote client site with a clone workstations on my network, i get succesful pings to all the remote clients.I had to get another server, this time, a compaq server and the same thing happened.Cansomeone tell me what is going on or is there something with this branded systems.I'm saying all this because authentication service from my clients is never successful and on my own side i have a good link.

timeout scenerio

it might be easier to answer this question if you included your source and destination ip addresses and the intermediary network hardware but you could be trying to ping by name if you try putting a hostfile on your servers even if you were pinging by ip this might help also please include os type on reply there are no known issues with this hardware in these systems that would not be a issue on workstations and you dont get any better servers than compaq, ibm, and hp they are probably using a common 3com or intel server nic in either one of these machines, also the software loads if windows based all use simular protocol stacks most important would probably be the network hardware and setup
