Timezone Adjustment

By Sameh Fouad ·
I am an administrator for Novell server using netware 4 located in Egypt. My problem is that the clock time of the server is always one hour behind the actual time. Can you help me?

Check the CMOS battery on the motherboard,it could be a sign of a battery going dead, can be replaced by taking the case cover off and replacing the nickel size battery of the same model.

By default, when the workstations log in, they will set their time to agree with the server, and will adjust for differing timezone settings.

So it's important that your server and your workstations be set for the proper time zone. In the AUTOEXEC.NCF for the server, toward the top should be lines that begin with:

SET TIMEZONE =
SET DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME OFFSET =
SET START OF DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME =

etc.

I don't remember if this is true of Netware 4.xx, but in NetWare 5, these could be adjusted using MONITOR.NLM. Choose "Server Paramters" then "Time" from the main menu.

If the server's CMOS has a setting to automatically adjust for daylight savings time, it is usually a good idea to *disable* it.

On the workstation side, double click the time display in the lower right corner, and confirm the TimeZone / DST settings.
