Hate those annoying pop-up advertisements?
Well I’ve been on the hunt for a great utility to put a stop to them. However, before I started hunting, I did research into what I could do on my own. What I found has helped dramatically.
I’m using IE 6, so on the IE toolbar go to Tools>Internet Options>Security(tab)>Restricted Sites(icon). Click the ‘Sites’ button. Enter the URL/web addresses of the sites you want to block. How do you know the web addresses? Well every time I got an annoying pop-up, I checked out the source code for any URLs/web addresses. I actually entered every URL that I found in the source code. (For those of you who don’t know how to view the source code – simply right-click your mouse and select ‘View Source’)
After spending just 15-20 minutes do this, I have dramatically reduced the amount of pop-ups that I receive.
Although I might keep my eyes open for a utility to completely put an end to those annoying pop-ups, I’m not in hurry anymore.
