[to close] Outlok 2003 and excel XP attachments

By arnaud.calenge ·
Hi

Our PC have Excel (office) XP and outlook 2003
one user working mainly with big excel sheets has many times "insufficent memory" when openning Excel attachment files from outlook .

If she saves the files and opens them, no more error.
is it a cache trouble ?

the files are about 5 / 6 Mb each.

it's a Dell 620 laptop with XP sp3. Before SP3 installed, we had the same errors.

Regards

.... just how much RAM is installed on the computer and how much free HDD space is there? Also, what other applications and background services are running while attempting to open this attachment?

The term "insufficient memory" usually means just that. You've got too much running for the limited capabilities of that computer.

Have you tried cleaning ALL temp files from the computer, including Outlook's own hidden temp file? Have you defragmented lately?
