To express or not to express update TIT question

by vytautasb9 . Updated 20 years, 4 months ago

While I have never felt comfortable with Windows update I grit my teeth and of course update and set it to run automatically. However I decided to forego the express install and actually spend some time and watch the choices listed when clicking on custom install. One of them was labelled something like “Slovenian interface update”. English and Lithuanian interfaces are ok with me but I don’t need Slovenian since I don’t speak the language. This however set me to wonder about the process that goes on when microsoft goes through my pc and determines what updates I need. Which updates do I really need? Also which ones can I live without without having to worry that the update is doing something to make my pc run slower or worse? Just a pet peeve of mine regarding “automatic updates”.
