It's called Virtual Machine.

I assume the software Leopold (Deja_vu) was trying to remember is VMware and can be downloaded and trialled from www.vmware.com I have downloaded this but not yet tested it so I cannot give an opinion, Only to say you do need some good specs on themachine to meet the overhead of running two (virtual)OS's simultaneously, and I probably would not try mission critical operations on the machine until some confidence building had taken place ( maybe not even then )

Maybe you could try it and let me know your opinions

This is the best software for what you need it is called Connectix Virtual PC For Windows it is a powerful cross-platform compatibility solution that enables a single PC to run combinations of PC-based operating systems simultaneously. Virtual PC makes switching operating sytems as easy as switching applications and provides much needed flexibility to the PC.With Virtual PC, companies can upgrade to a new operating system and continue to run legacy applications that are incompatible with the new system. IS professionals can "sandbox" a potential deployment by testing it against any combination of operating systems and applications in a safe, encapsulated environment. Software developers and QA specialists can develop, test and debug software for different operating systems on one computer. Technical Support staff can easily create multiple user-specific configurations on a single PC for real-time scenario testing and evaluation.
HOST Operating Systems
Runs on Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Windows XP Home, Windows 2000 Professional, Windows NT 4.0 w/ svc pk 6+, and Windows Me.
GUEST Operating Systems
Supports Microsoft Windows operating systems including Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0 Workstation, Windows NT Server, Windows NT Enterprise, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows 2000. I hope this helps if you need a url for more ifo use this http://www.connectix.com/products/vpc4w.html

Hi
Yes it is possible. This idea came from the mainframe operating system VM from IBM where you can install VM OS then install under it many operating systems. The Virtual machine is a term used to make all workstaion could use all resource at once example If you have 16 MB of ram only then you can give from 16 down to 1 MB to each workstaion and compare that to all other resources. So you can install VSE or MVS under VM and both acn have 16 MB of RAM.
The pc is deffirent where you install a utility such as VMware Workstation from http://www.vmware.com/
or Connectix Virtual PC from http://www.connectix.com/products/vpc4w.html
You can try both and see which one fits your needs.Microsoft used vmware read it at:

Microsoft Corporation to use VMware Software for Sales Demonstrations
http://www.vmware.com/news/releases/microsoft.html

In the world of MAC there is a also this technology using a software such as virtual pc where you can install Windows under MAC OS and run windows application.

pls check the requierment for hardware and software for both products.

Good luck

Mohamed
