Tons of LB****** temp files

My Windows2000 server has about 3000 temp files called LB1768.tmp, LB176A.tmp etc. in my C:\winnt\temp taking up approx 1 GB of space. I tried to delete them but they all tell me they are “in use” when I try to delet them. Can anyone tell me what program created them and why? Thanks
