These definitions are too general. In reality, the CIO and CTO roles depend on the size and nature of the organization for which they work. On one extreme end, you may find one person filling both roles. On the other extreme end, you may find that their roles are extremely different, with CIO being a business leader focusing on strategy and business alignment with IT and the CTO focusing on technical solutions.
