I have a Labtech headset which I bought to use with Skype. Unfortunately, every time I have used it I get this horrible echo. Someone told me it’s because there are two sound drivers running. I can’t figure out where they are.
When I go into the Device Manager, under Sound, video and game controllers I have:
– Audio Codecs
– Legacy Audio Drivers
– Legacy Video Capture Devices
– Media Control Devices
– Realtek High Definition Audio
– Video Codecs
Under Sounds and Audio Devices Properties I have the same six, plus the DVDRW and a SCSI CDROM Device. I don’t get multiple options when I see the Line In/Mic In pull-down menu.
My Master Volume console has Wave, SW Synth, CD Player, Front, Rear, Line Volume, Front Green In, Front Pink In (headset jack) and Microphone. I set Microphone to MUTE.
The thing that freaks me out the most is one day I accidentally hit the Video option on AIM and I could hear myself talking…without a microphone PLUGGED IN! I have a Compaq Presario SR2038X with Windows XP, SP3.
I would be incredibly grateful to anyone who can point me in the right direction (link, YouTube video?) or could just tell me what to fix to get rid of this ghost audio I have.
Many, many thanks!
