tool similar to Cygwin for MacOS

Kind of a silly question since MacOS is already Unix based and a lot of the GNU utilities are included out of box but oftentimes the mac versions have slightly different syntax which adds another layer of complexity to whatever I’m trying to do. Ideally, I should learn how to use my operating system properly but sometimes it’s nice to be able to quickly Google stuff without having to worry about translating syntax. I also occasionally write programs that incorporate Linux cli commands and it would be nice to be able to test them on my Mac.

Basically I’m looking for a way to run Linux-ish shell without having to virtualize an entire operating system if that makes any sense.

But once I need to do something over and over I create a script so I don’t have to keep looking up the syntax.

Even if you virtulize a Linux OS, CLI can change as you select a shell. BASH, cshell and how many others are there?
