Have 100s of servers in tens of NT domains. Have to note down the security configuration on these (e.g user account properties, server configuration etc) Am aware of SCM but cannot install it all the servers (will take a lot of time and resources) Anyone aware of any relevant tools for this?

      BindView BV-Control
      Symantec/Axent Enterprise Security Manager
      Polivec
      NetIq Security Manager
      and to a lesser extent:
      Enterprise Configuration Manager

Most of these don’t need an agent installed manually on each machine – they will push their own agent as long as you let them run under a (service) account which, through same-password or trusts, has admin rights on each server to monitor.

      Hope thiz helpz,

There is a free product from SomarSoft called “DumpSec” which dumps the permissions (DACLs) and audit
settings (SACLs) for the file system, registry, printers and shares in a concise, readable listbox format, so that holes in system
security are readily apparent. DumpSec also dumps user, group and replication information. URL is “http://systemtools.com/somarsoft/”
Check it out, I use it and have found it very helpfull.
