Tools to monitor network down to PC

By dlinville ·
We are experiencing some isolated performance problems, and as usual, we have to prove it is not the network. I would like to find a tool or tools that would allow me to monitor our PC performance. When a specific user claims they have a problem, we can monitor their PC and see if we can isolate a problem;
memory, Application HOG, Database response, etc.....

Any ideas what toolset to begin troubleshooting first?

Start by,
Identifying the switch and port where the troubled PC is connected.Telnet the switch and go to port statistics and look for collisions or any kind of errors(i.e.frame errors,FCS errors etc.).

I am evaluating a network monitoring tool,it looks good they gave me a 2 week evaluation license to try it.

Hope this will help
