    Toshiba LCD Monitor

    Locked

    by macchia ·

I Have a Toshiba 2140 CDS (AMD K6-2 processor)and the monitor has gone blank. I’ve changed the LCD cable and the LCD Inverter and also upgraded to Win XP to see if the video drivers were causing the problem. The note book works fine when hooked up to my external monitor. Any info would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

All LCD Monitors have a Back Light behind them the most likely thing to have happened is that this light has failed.

Now it gets tricky on some monitors it is not possible to replace this light and others you have to pull the whole thing apart to reach the light. Generally speaking if you have a molded LT Screen you’re up for a new screen but if you can unscrew or prise it apart you should be able to replace the light, BUT you have to be very careful when doing this as it is extremely easy to destroy the screen.

Well in that case it has to be the connection to the M’Board particularly if both monitor outputs run off the same Video chip set. Use a big magnifying glass and check both the board and connector for sings of damage.

Thanks, I think the back light is ok though since the monitor is showing bright white although its just blank with no graphics at all. I did try this monitor on another machine and worked OK.
