Toshiba Satellite Pro A300 Missing Bluetooth

Since installing a clean copy of Windows 10 Bluetooth (which was working fine on the previous copy) had now disappeard from Device Manager. I’m told this is due to missing or incorrect driver(s).

As I now cannot see Bluetooth in Device Manager, I cannot determine the make/model of the Bluetooth Adapter to try and find drivers.

The full details of the laptop are: Toshiba Satellite Pro A300-2C5.

Has anybody got a similar model and can check rhe Bluetooth details for me please?

Due to it’s age this mdel is now ‘supported’ by Dynabook in the UK and they don’t offer any contact options or legacy drivers – I’ve tried!

It’s really frustrating when legacy models don’t have the support they need.

One thing you could try is a generic Bluetooth driver. Microsoft has some built-in drivers that might work. In Device Manager, click on “Action” > “Scan for hardware changes”. If that doesn’t work, try “Add Legacy Hardware” under the “Action” menu and follow the wizard.

If none of this helps, you could try a USB Bluetooth dongle. They’re pretty inexpensive and could be a work-around.

I agree! I have tried your suggestion but no Bluetooth device shows up under any circumstances! Your idea of a USB dongle a good one but it irks me!

It could be that the internal Bluetooth component is simply no longer functional if the laptop isn’t recognizing it. Unfortunately, short of taking it to a repair shop for evaluation, the BT dongle is the quickest and economical option.

Hint: the dongle will be cheaper than even a bench check of the laptop.

Did you install the drivers?

I’d try the ones from Toshiba’s web site for this model first.

-> Microsoft rarely supplies all the drivers for us on a fresh Windows install. This isn’t something new. I’ve been driver hunting since before 1995.

But looking at the age of the machine you may want to cut your losses (after you read the link) and plug in some USB Bluetooth adapter.
