Toshiba spontaneous shutdowns on laptops/notebooks

By theminotaur56 ·
I am working a difficult problem on a Toshiba Satellite laptop model which isn't listed as a problem model on the Toshiba website. I flashed the bios to the latest update but the problem still exists. Please help me stop pulling my hair out!

So, what DO you see?

by ThumbsUp2 In reply to Toshiba spontaneous shutd ...

We can't help if we don't have more details. Tell us more about what is happening. Does it happen after a certain amount of time that it's been turned on? Does it happen when you start a certain program?

Take your hands away from your hair, put them on the keyboard and TELL us something that we can work with.

Sometimes it occurs within 10 to 15 seconds of startup, and other times it may not happen for hours. I have tried with the battery removed and also on just the battery with no AC source.

When I flashed the bios it stayed on for me the whole time and I thought that it had fixed the problem but the computer came back to my shop a few days later.

It was an ms update on the video driver in my case

ATI MOBILITY RADEON 7000 IGP

I reinstalled the ones off the driver disk, problem went away

Course now everytime I shut FF down Visual Debugger comes up.

Not the first time either, on this box. Given some other difficulties I've had someone is going to have a real job on their hands selling me Toshiba again.
