A coworker has a Toshiba Tecra A8 laptop with a fingerprint reader. He can use the fingerprint reader to get the system to boot up, but Windows doesn’t autologin the way it used to. He doesn’t know the password into Windows. I have various ways of getting around this, but I can’t boot the laptop from a CD or external device because it isn’t setup correctly in the BIOS. Of course, the coworker can’t remember the alternate BIOS password he set, so we can’t get into the BIOS. The hard drive is encrypted, so I can’t put it on another system to crack the Windows password. I’m afraid resetting the BIOS will make it so the HD can’t be decrypted anymore and thus require a complete wipe. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
