    touchscreen not responding

HP all-in-one 23-qll3w (touch) running Windows 2004, Windows 10. The touchscreen stopped functioning on 2/28 last month. I tried to fix it by uninstalling the touchscreen under the device manager. I get this message …currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer, code 45, to fix this problem, reconnect this hardware to the computer. What exactly is the name of this hardware and where would I find it? I contacted HP Support, they could not help me without payment due to my computer being out of warranty. Can anyone advise me? Thank you all

Most folk will not fix this.

Since we can use a mouse the touch screen is for most, optional.

Yes you can test it with some Linux bootable media but many folk can’t perform such a test. Again, I suggest you ignore it and use a mouse.

I’m not having any issues of that kind, but having looked for a solution just out of curiosity, I find this answer reasonable: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/Touch-screen-stopped-working-code-45-not-connected/td-p/7581648

Try to do a hard restart from the startup screen as you turn it on. Does your wifi connect?

Yes, I’ve done a hard reset. I updated everything I could. I don’t have recovery disks so I’ve tried to do a recovery but it failed, kept telling me to sign in as administrator, and I didn’t know how.

      Enable it

The touch screen might not be working after reinstalling because it seems that
is not enabled. Go to the Human Interface Devices in the device manager and
      enable it.

        Touch screen

It is not listed under Human Interface Devices. Day before yesterday, after having shut down my computer for about 90 minuets, I powered up my computer and it was back. My touch screen was working, although a little skippy. I quickly went into device manager and it was listed! I went to the Pen and Point and it was listed there also, a 10 point something, or other. I had done so many things to get it back that I have no idea which had worked. To be sure it would stay on I restarted my computer. I touched the screen and no response. I went to device manager and it was gone, also no longer under the pen and point. I really don’t know what to make of this.

Press Win Key + R and type in devmgmt. msc
Hit Enter. Now go to View > Show hidden devices.
Now check for your touch pad driver.
