Locked

Track password usage

By dennisbv ·
My boss gave my username and password to a vender to correct a problem when I was on vacation and now I changed my password, but my account keeps getting locked out. I want to know how I can go about tracing down what is locking out my account. I am using Windows XP and we have four Windows 2000 servers. Any help or sugestions would be appreciated.

The account is most likely still logged on to a workstation/server with the old password.
Try to enable account logon auditing on your DC. It 'might' tell you from what workstation. You can also check on your 4 servers if there are TS sessions open or disconnected that you know are not yours.

yes turn on security tracking on your DC for just your username/id. It should show you what device is trying to connect with your name. We had to do this with a service account that the password changed and something else was using it that we didn't know about.
