Track source of outgoing email virus

By s0lve_it ·
Hi, I am constantly receiving emails stating the my email address(or somebody's in the many domains we own) has sent out a virus. All of our anti-virus systems and firewalls are completely up to date and I have checked that our mail servers are not open-relays. I understand that anybody can send email as anybody else, but can anybody give me a solution or workaround for this problem.

maybe some out side of the company

It is possible that the virus is sitting on a pc that is outside of the company. You didn't mention if the email you are getting is from your antivirus program or someone who has received an infected email. Someone that has you in their address book may be the cause of this. You also should have mentioned what virus they are receiving... if that is available to you.

Good luck,
