We recently went to a 2000 domain. We have 3 DCs for our single domain and have added a child domain. Now, the PDC on the domain is claiming that is holds the FSMO records and the global catalog. Of course, this is an issue. We would like to transfer the FSMO role to one of the other DCs. I have read the Microsoft articles but they talk about “demoting” the old controller. Is there a good way to tranfer this role to one of the DCs with minimal down-time and without damaging the other roles the PDC currently holds? It is currently the Domain Master, DNS server and Global catalog holder. Thank you.
