Trick windows 2k (Shared >LPT)

By Navjun ·
Is there a way to Trick a Windows 2000 Pro PC to think that its printing to LPT while its actually printing to a shared printer on another computer.
I'm asking this since I have an older progrom that only prints to LPT1 and I need it to print to a shared printer on another PC.

thank you for your Help.

Of course... network print...

make a batch file and put this in your startup...

net use lpt1: \\computername\printer

computername being the name of the pc the printer is shared from

printer being the sharename of the printer...

Good luck

Forgot to mention the printer must be shared for all including guest if you do not have a username and password setup on the printer sharing pc the same as an outside pc to connect to...

Create a script to run at logon as follow
net use LPT1 \\(PrintServer)\(PrinterName) /Persistent:No

persistent:no is optional,in this case it will release the lpt port when you logoff your system.

if you create a loging script to
net use LPT1 \\(PrintServer)\(PrinterName) /Persistent:No
this should solve your problem for printing.
