Hello,
Here is the situation.
My client has a Dell Latitude C600, running Windows 2000 Professional. He has an integrated NIC and Modem combo card. The NIC is used at work with a cable modem/LAN. The modem is used mainly from home, obviously with a dial-up account with AT&T’s Worldnet. The mail server is with another independent company (independent of cable or AT&T). When using Cable/LAN he has no problem sending or reciving mail using either Outlook or Outlook Express. But the problem arises when he uses modem and dials into Worldnet. He can’t send mail with either Outlook or Express, he can only receive, either at home or work. We tried another dialup account, problem wasn’t solved. Another user has same computer, same OS, same everything, except for the dialup account, he has no problems. I uninstalled TCP/IP and reinstalled it, problem wasn’t solved.
I added SMTP service to Windows 2000 Add/Remove programs components and changed the SMTP server in Outlook to 127.0.0.1, and sent a test message to myself. I received it the next day. I downloaded the latest updates from Microsoft’s windows update, latest drivers from Dell, still no help. I can ping the mail server. I spoke with AT&T, they haven’t made anychanges to their network. Anyone out there have a clue to what else I can do to fix this. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
