I use Vista Home. I followed instructions and used the back-up tool (Part of Vista’s problem is they have very similar names for different restore/backup functions. Is confusing!)
So, I followed your suggestion and placed a zero (0) in the file name. I have only two back-up files. I copied the file to my D drive which is an extra drive on my computer, even though the restore tool said I didn’t have any backup files on my computer and so I clicked on advanced options and that located the D drive as well as my external drive, where I originally did the backup.
One is Backup.01 application (exe?) file at 2440 kb. The other one .fbw file that is 36,384,817 kb. I went through the restore process and it finally took, placing an extra zero in front of both file names.
I received the message: “your files have successfully been restored.”
Well, then, where the heck are they? Not one file can be seen anywhere on my computer, even though I could see the file names flashing by as they were being scanned and restored. So I know they are there.
Does anyone know how to “see” the files or get them installed after you receive this message: “your files have successfully been restored.” The ones that I really want are the Outlook .pst files. Thank you!
