Chances are, they’re blocking the sites. The only way you’ll know for sure is to ask.

ok so i asked them and they gave me a different proxy address , but i couldn’t still access the secure sites.
        they were also puzzled !!
i also turned off my windows firewall, but still wasn’t successful.
Im thinking of restoring my windows..
        🙁
        thanx anyway.

Accessing ‘secure’ sites is slightly different …

The protocol is configured for ‘personal identity’.

If the local active firewall prevents this, you stand no chance.

However, this is in your best interest, because you wouldn’t want your personal details copied by any other network user – would you? 😉

i definitely wouldn’t want my details to be copied, but is restricting access to the secure sites the only option? isn’t there some form of encryption that can be used instead?

i talked to the school admin about the issue and he told me that other users were able to access secure sites.

so i concluded that i may have unintentionally put some configurations that may block me from accessing secure sites.

Im thinking of doing a system restore..

        thanks Mycroft.
