trouble deleting files on network drive

I have a user at site 2 using xp pro and office xp pro with sp2. We are on a LAN. We have a public directory with shared folders, on the network that every user can use. Everyone has full access permissions to this public directory. At site 1 they will save a .xls or .doc in this public folder. Site 2 will retrieve this file print it and the delete it. Site 2 user is having trouble deleting this. It will come up and say "error deleting file or folder, Cannot delete xxxx it is in use by another person or program,close any programs that might use this file and try again. No users have this file open but this message is still coming up. I can usually go into the server or sometimes another workstation and find the file and delete it but the end user printing can not delete this file and she is the one getting the error message. Are there any settings? in office that my keep this file open and not close it out right away?

Well, I'd check the rights and permissions, but it looks like you already have. I'd also go into the Computer Mananger of the server and check the Shared Folders and Open Files. This will show you definatively if someone is using the file and has it open at that time.
