I Need your help big time
Had a crash
My Full Backup was done on an external using OnSpec Regen? Backup – came with Kaser Storage Vault External Hard Drive
I’ve reinstalled Windows XP Home Edition using the Fujitsu Recovery Disk and downloaded SP2
I’ve tried to do the full restore, but I fear I’m missing some fundamentals that I’m just not versed on
Here are some of the troubles that I am running into…………….
– I restored Windows XP Home Edition SP1 from the restore disk that Fujitsu provided
– Next, I did all the Windows Updates and Upgraded to SP2
– I download latest Regen Build 066 from techsupportlive.com and Install
– I go to TOOLS/REPAIR CATALOG
– Under SELECT AN OPTION FOR CATALOG REPAIR I choose “Disk”
– Next, I choose “All Disks”
– Then, I locate my Backup Store Data Files and click OK
– Works well and “Repair Catalog Completed”
– Up to this point, everything is looking OK
– Next, I choose “Full Restore”
– Then, hit “Next”
– My Backup Store IS listed in the Window, so I hit “Next”
Here’s where I run into trouble, and it has to do with locating the SNAPSHOT files
Which Snapshot do I select?
My (C) Drive or my Storage Vault (I) Drive
My Backup Storage Drive is Storage Vault I:/
I notice that there are some System Files on the backup drive
Is that the drive that I choose to Restore From?
I’m also a little confused about whether or not I should choose “Original” or “New” Location
– Under “Where do you want to restore?”, I selected “New Location” and chose (C)
I tried that, and I noticed that it began copying ALL of the files from my Storage Vault I:/ Drive to my C:/ Drive
Also, will I need to disable Windows File Protection before Restoring?
I hope I’m making this clear
I’m also running into Windows File Protection and not having very good luck disabling
I am not sure If I’m choosing or placing the snapshots or system files to and from the right areas etc.
I need help
Hope all is going well for you
Hit me back
