I’m running 2k advanced server with appropriate updates and hotfixes. My domain is independant of the others on the netowork which do have domain controllers. These are out of my control but don’t pose a problem to my knowledge. After building myserver, enabling DNS and active directory I expected user logons to work. On a Win 2k pro workstation, I opened the control panel >> system >> network ID tab >> properties. Instead of workgroup, I type in my domain PXDOM in the domain field. I amthen instructed to enter a username and password. I enter the server’s admin password or a user with admin privledges. I recieve this error:
The following error occoured attepting to join the domain “PXDOM”. (next line) The network path was notfound.
Here is the interesting part. I can borwse to the server through the Network Places and click on the server. It then asks me to authenticate myself. I enter a username and password, for example a user account stored on the server, and Ican gain access to all my shares and resources until the next workstation reboot, naturally. So why can’t I join computers to the domain?
