Troubleshoot after reformat and install to 2003 server or XP

By arul3177 ·
I purchased an Compaq Presario V6000 laptop. It came with Windows Vista operating system. I didn't like Vista, so I reformatted the hard drive, and tried to install Windows XP Pro or Windows 2003 Server. The install could not find HDD drive. Is there anything I can do to get Windows XP or 2003 to recognize the hard drive, and install XP or 2003?

You need to install the SATA Drivers for your NB as they are not natively supported by the older OS's.

To do this with XP you need to copy the Drivers to the Root of a Floppy and press the F6 Key when the very First Blue Screen appears on the XP installer.

If you do not have access to a Floppy you can slipstream the necessary drivers to a Windows Install Disc that you make by following the directions here
