troubleshooting dial up networking

By jfmarten3 ·
I have set up a dial-up networking server on a win 98 pc that is a part of a win NT network using the guidlines of the MS document Q139710. I also set up a pc at home to connect to the office using dial-up networking using the document Q145843. I have cross referenced both configs using documents I've found on Annoyances.org and a previous dial-up network installation at my previous job. My problem is: when I get to the "Enter your Password to connect" dialog box- I enter my username and password and verify the domain (workgroup) entry, then when I hit enter the box pops up again, I enter the information again, hit return and get the Error 691 message (username/password invalid). Yes I am entering my correct username and password. Have I missed a step? Do I need to change a setting on the Win NT network server?

Hello,

have you set up the user so that they have dial in permissions, if not then you need to go into the user manager --> user properties --> dialin --> and check 'grant dial in permission to user'.
then ok it and it 'should' be done. but because of the reliablilty of windowz it probably wont

hope it helped :)
