Troubleshooting Toshiba Tecra 530CDT

By Phil Walwanda ·
I was reading information from a floppy disk of my Toshiba Tecra 530CDT when its power cable was kicked loose.

The machine went blank except for a blinking power indicator. Every time I connect it to a power source, the RECHARGE and BATTERY indicator lights go on well but when I switch it on, the ON indicator comes on for 30 seconds then afterwards, only the RECHARGE indicator keeps blinking an orange light with no activity at all on any other part of the Laptop.

Could anyone please helpme bring up the machine to life again?

Walwanda P.Jack

I would try removing all power from the laptop for a couple of minutes...power cord as well as battery. Then restore power and try to power up. Hope this helps.

Hello Mr. Walwanda just try to remove the battery from your machine and give the external power and try to use the machine if it work perfectly tehn exactly the prob with the battery. but try to plug it back and see weither it works fine after that.If noting works out then you've better check teh battries inside that machine that uses gor hybernation and resume, cause it those battries are leaked to the machine then that indicator coming for the orange color and blinking slowly.
good luck sir

A good suggestion in deed but the
machine is still dead upto now despite
this trial.

Thanks a million for your time and
expertise.

Unplug both the battery and AC power. If that doesn't help most models of laptops have a power switch and a suspend button. If you hold down the suspend button and hit the power switch the machine will completely power off. Hitting these two switches is kind of like a kill switch which cuts all power and drains any remaining battery power in the laptop.

plug in the power as usual and then switch it on. Then press and hold the power button on the notebook for 10-15 seconds. That should bring up that thingie. Another alternative is to just press and release the power button instantly. Hope it helps.
If that still does not help, i have a good solution to offer. Send it back to Toshiba for RMA.

The last suggestion was the only option
I had, I did actually send it back even
though I felt I should have repaired it
by myself.

Thanks men.
