Hi Can someone please help. Windows 98 is installed on one of the pc's. Now whenever the machine is turned on an error keeps appearing on the screen. The error msg is:- An error occured while loading the file, system cannot find the file. The name of the files are as follows:- C:\Windows\-e,C:\Windows\-g, C:\Windows\132, C:\Windows\-142495. I reinstalled windows 98 and right at the end of the installation it comes up with an error msg again. An error or exception occured while calling the function "DIIInstall" in C":\windows\SYSTEM\sholocvw.dll. Can someone please help because it is annoying me now. Thankyou

Try running MSCONFIG at the run statement and then under the startup tap start unchecking diferent items to see what exacly is giving you the error. the msconfig will allow you to do all kinds of trouble shouting without unloading any software. Hopethis helps

After you get the message just complete the installation and then REGISTER the DLL file manually:
To register the Shdocvw.dll file, use the following steps:
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. Type the following line, and then press ENTER:
regsvr32 /i:shell shdocvw.dll
3. Click OK, and then when you receive the message "DllRegisterServer and
DllInstall in shdocvw.dll succeeded," click OK.
4. Restart your computer.
DLL file should be registered at this stage
About the error messages that appear when starting Windows
Start => Run => Type MSCONFIG => OK
Click on Startup and untick all Apps. Restart the computer. If no error open MSCONFIG again and put the ticks back one at a time restarting the computer after one tick is placed back.
When conflicting App is found ; remove it and then reinstall
Regards
