Troubleshooting with Event Viewer

By apass ·
Is there a publication that helps you interpret error codes that you get in event viewer on Windows 2000 Server? I am looking for a publication that will tell me what to check based on a particular error code in event viewer. The explanaion of theerror code is often as confusing as the error code itself.

Troubleshooting with Event Viewer

by Some Guy in Seattle In reply to Troubleshooting with Even ...

The only success I've ever had with event viewer entries is to cut some of the relevant text and paste it into a search at support.microsoft.com. I've never been able to find any one table that has all the event IDs or hex code interpretations, butI'm sure they have them at Microsoft, ha. What a way to make sure that not only do you purchase their support but also make sure you register the OS as that's the first thing they ask for when you call.

If anyone *does* know of something that has this info, I'd like to know too...
