truncate 2GB pst file?

by charger media . Updated 14 years, 1 month ago

One of my users who shares a pst file with the company founder is having trouble moving items to her personal folders. She keeps getting the following error:
The item was not able to be moved. Unable to move item. The item has already been moved, deleted, etc.

I checked that particular mailbox on the Exchange server, the items in question were still in the original location and had not been moved or deleted.

I noticed to size of the file is 1.85gigs. I ran scanpst.exe on it and the results were fine. I created a secondary pst and was able to successfully transfer the emails into the secondary folder.

Any advice on how to break up this mailbox to avoid problems like this in the future? The user in this situation seems to have a real attitude when I tell her she needs to practice better organizational techniques (like not filing 90 identical emails with a 2meg attatchment that went to 90 different people). My patience runs thin when user error causes system malfunction, so anytips on instructions I can give her would be appreciated. Thanks.
