    Trust Between Workstation…

    Locked

    by philldmc ·

I have a small local network and one computer is connected via wireless at 128bit encryption. I have added the computer to the domain and it is listed as domain.local under the computer properities. I am able to use my domain admin account to log onto the computer. However, whenever I want to add a user to the computer from the domain I’m getting the message “trust relations between this workstation and the domain contoller has failed”.

I have set up a shared drive on the server and the local machine and can access both shares from either machine.

What am I missing? Why am I not able to add users to this machine?

    Wireless Machine Info
    P4 2.4GHz
    512MB Ram
Linksys USB Wireless (73% single str)

    Server Machine
    Windows 2000 SP3
    512MB Ram
    Running AD
    Direct into hub

    Wireless is linksys AP
    Direct into hub
Both adaptor and AP are 2.4GHZ

      Try to reset the secure channgel between the computer account and the domain using this command;
      “netdom reset ‘machinename’ /domain:’domainname”

      (Also see TechNet kb 216393)

Nothing is working, driving me nuts. I think I’m one step away from reinstalling the os.

Have you unjoined and then rejoined it to the same domain? I have resolved this error by doing so. I never could get an answer through Microsoft as to why this happened.

I have removed the system completely form the network, uninstalled all protocals, adaptors and jsut assigned it to “workgroup” and then reconfigured. No luck same problem.

      Try this.

      Login as administrator
When adding another user. Instead of clicking on the browse button simply enter a valid username and the domain and proceed.

      This should do it.

That is the method I’ve been trying to do, just type by name. However when I do browse I do remember an error, relating to trust relations again.
