Trusting Domain

By jsookahet ·
Can anyone help me with this?
I have tried an NT PDC to join a windows 2000 domain controller and vice-versa. But both trust relationship won't work, sending error message cannot find the requested domain.

Thanks for help.

Can you check to see whether your W2K domain controller is in the mixed mode or native mode? Mixed mode allows NT4 and W2K to coexist on the network and native mode designed to provide a full complement of W2K.
Hope this help

First questions. Is the NT PDC a seperate domain? If not, is the W2K DC a PDC? If the W2K DC is the PDC to the domain and your trying to join the NT PDC to the same domain, you'll have to demote one of em. Further, if you wish to keep the W2K PDC, then it has to run in mixed mode to allow a non W2K DC to join the domain.

Have you tested the basic TCP/IP connectivity between the two domain controllers? Can you ping the NT PDC from the Win2K DC and vice versa? Do you have name resolution (i.e., can you ping by name as well as IP)? Also, you need to be sure when youset up the trust and you use the same password on both sides of the trust. Hope this helps!
