Trying to Get WinXP,Win NT4, Win95 to se

By ruizmike ·
I have a small network at home Laptop with Win 95 and a worstation with NT4.0 connected to a netgear hub(100/100). I can see both of them but I can't see another worstation that has Win XP. I tried to use Netbeui but I still can't see the the Win XP workstation. Can this be done? I'm pretty sure it can I just need the right protocol right?

Don't know if they are compatible "workgroup" operating systems, but instead of 'seeing' you should be able to ping and possibly share, providing you use the \\192.168.x.x\share format..

1. are they on the same domain (if one is on HOME and another on home, I don't think they would work)?
2. are they on the same subnet mask (255.255.255.0)?
3. are they on the same IP range (192.168.0.1, 192.168.0.2, 192.168.0.3)?
4. Have you tried enabling sharing on the XP box?

I know they may have been asked and checked but this are the things I made mistakes on when connecting my PCs at home together.

1. Check XP firewall settings. This will disable the NT and 95 ability to see the XP.
2. Make sure file & print sharing is installed on the XP.
