What a graphics geek I am.......

by amsnake In reply to Tuco's Blog

Yeah, that's right. You read the title correctly. I like graphics. Big, shiny, computer-generated graphics that make a certain part of my brain light up with excitement. But are they crucial to a game? I think that depends on the game. If you are playing a game of solitaire for instance, you aren't going to be disappointed if the cards you are playing with look real? But boy, that would be nice.........<br />    Maybe that's where the next generation comes in. Some people (ahem, Nintendo) think that Microsoft and Sony are shrinking the industry with their over-priced machines and over-budgeted games. Maybe they are right, but what else are they supposed to do? Come up with some wacky controller that no one has ever seen before and abandon the many Xbox and PS2 fans that have adored their Controller-S's and Dual-Shocks for so long? ****, the dual-shock controller has been around for two generations now and even Sony is saying that they have to do something slightly different.<br />    What am I trying to get at? Nintendo had a shot last generation to "expand" the market and they blew it. They came up with a controller that no one wanted to play Madden or any sports games on and basically just rely on first-party rehashes of the same old games. Super Mario Sunshine, Starfox Assault, Super Smash Bros. Melee, and I honestly don't know how many completely crap Mario Party games Nintendo has pushed out that were "innovative."<br />    <br />
