turn off onboard sound - emachines T3256.

By mike_quin ·
I want to install a sound card on my Emachines T3256. The pc comes with sound onboard the motherboard.
How do I disable the onboard sound?

The same models of Emachines do not always come with the same motherboards.

Therefore, the easiest way to find out is to navigate to the following URL, enter your specific model, click the link under E-mail Technical Support, and email their tech support for the answer.

If you are too impatient for the above, you can also go into the bios and disable the on board sound.

<del> during startup works on most brands, and then a little "browsing" will usually let you find the "on board peripherals" section

Simply disable the sound entry.

You don't really need to disable it. You can go in the control panel>sound and choos which device would be your defaut.

All 3 answers have merit.

Some Bioses are "smart" enough that if a card is installed it will render the onboard device inactive, but all 3 are possible answers.

Good luck, please advise how it turns out.
