Hi
My organisation is located in a rural area, and we are often subject to powercuts. These have caused problems with our Windows 2000 Server (we have UPS attached to the server), but the biggest problem is that the network is not always available for up to 15-20 minutes after the power has been restored. I assume this is due to browse master settings.
Can I get the network to respond quicker if I turn the browse master off on the majority of the machines? Would only having 2 or 3 machines ‘electable’ solve the problem. The majority of the network is comprised of Win98 workstations, 3 Win2k Pro workstations, a Win2k server and a single Win3.11 machine. I was thinking of turning the browse master off on the 3.11 and Win98 machines, thereby leaving the elections to the Win2k machines (which I assume the Win2k server would win anyway).
I know how to enable and disable browse master electability both using the network applet in control panel and using the registry, but I was wondering if anyone had a similar problem? If so, how did you solve it.
Thanks
