Ok? Here is the problem. I?m running XP Pro (build 2) Media Center and trying to capture a VCR tape using Nero 6.0 Capture Video. The error message is (Failed to initialize the capture device. Please check the device settings)
Nero is no help? their cotton-picking framework for trouble leaves me with a one hour task just to enter the problem ? and guess what ? no response.
Now I know the ?capture device? works as I can start Media Center and record the tape that way. But the problem is that it limits it to the ?time frame? of the program that ?Media Center? thinks it?s recording. e.g. multiple passes. No real hurry as the tapes are only 20 years old. The ?mom? that recorded them has passed. And my friend thought it would be nice to put them on DVD for the rest of the family.
OBTW the video card xlator is a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR PCI II (Encoder-16)
